Manchester United's dismal start to the Premier League season has left Erik ten Hag searching for answers. Fortunately for the Dutchman, an international break presents an opportunity for him to devise a plan to navigate his side out of a messy situation.

Ten Hag has proved that he can improve results, having endured a similarly awful start in 2022-23 before embarking on a run that ultimately saw the Red Devils finish third and win the Carabao Cup. But backed with a £200million summer spend, there is far more pressure this time around.

The United boss may even be able to make use of the transfer market, especially if he believes there is a free agent who can improve his team.

Antony urged to leave Man Utd

Antony has been urged to leave Man Utd by former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The ex-England international believes the Brazilian has been a “shambles” following his £86m switch from Ajax in 2022.

Antony has been linked with a switch to Fenerbahce, where Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be interested in signing the 24-year-old.

“He’s been a bit of a shambles hasn’t he, let’s be honest,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.

“He needs to move. He’s not going to get any game time at Manchester United and they’re going to lose so much money the day they sell him.

“He’s not even worth half of what they bought him for at the moment.

“The whole thing, him being signed and his performance in the Premier League – it’s a shambles.”

Man Utd's Alphonso Davies belief emerges

Man Utd have reportedly joined the race to sign Alphonso Davies as a free agent next summer.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal are also understood to be interested in a move for the Bayern Munich left-back.

However, HITC reports that all three Premier League clubs believe Davies has already made his decision and wants to join Real.

The 23-year-old has long been linked with a switch to Los Blancos.

Man Utd can still seal four transfers

Manchester United can still complete four pieces of business despite the transfer window closing over a week ago.

Some countries' windows remain open, allowing United to shift some of their deadwood.

Meanwhile, Premier League teams can sign free agents with several high-profile stars still without clubs.

Galatasaray have been strongly linked with Casemiro, while Turkish rivals Fenerbahce are reported to have enquired about Antony.

Both deals can still go ahead as Turkish clubs have until September 13 to complete their business.

According to TeamTalk, the door remains 'open' for United to sign Adrien Rabiot as a free agent.

HITC claim that attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici, who last played for Lille, has been offered to the Red Devils.
