Manchester United may have already unearthed their next academy star to follow in the footsteps of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. The Red Devils have produced several talented youngsters over the last few years, with Erik ten Hag not afraid to include them in his first-team plans.

Mainoo has emerged as a key man for United since breaking through last season and is already a fully-fledged England international. Garnacho is also a regular at senior level and helped Argentina to win the Copa America over the summer.

Others, such as Willy Kambwala and Hannibal Mejbri, have made the step up to first-team level before continuing their careers elsewhere. United's next academy gem might just be about to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors after excelling for the club's youth teams.

Gabriele Biancheri, who turns 18 in the next fortnight, has made plenty of waves at Carrington despite never making a senior appearance for United. He has recently been taking part in first-team training sessions, where he is said to have left a big impression.

The forward has made a flying start to the season for the under-18s, scoring a hatful of goals to emerge as their attacking talisman. He began with a goal against Manchester City in their season opener before bagging a brace against Leicester City in the Premier League Cup.

Biancheri was promoted to the under-21 side for their recent fixture against Blackburn Rovers and scored with his first touch. Most recently, he found the back of the net for the under-18s in their victory over bitter rivals Liverpool.

United's technical director Jason Wilcox is among those to have kept a close eye on Biancheri, who represents Wales at youth international level. He was in attendance to see Biancheri score two goals for the under-18s in their final league game of last season.

Biancheri's blistering form is attracting the attention of coaches and scouts, according to the Daily Mail, with many of his admirers 'salivating' over his potential. With that in mind, it remains to be seen if United will be able to keep hold of him over the coming years.

The emergence of Mainoo, Garnacho and many others has shown that young players have a clear pathway to first-team football at Old Trafford. Biancheri might just be the next wonderkid to roll off the production line, with his prolific form showing no sign of easing up.
