Mohamed Salah is reportedly determined to extend his Liverpool contract before the end of the season amid interest from Saudi Arabia. The Egyptian winger is only tied down until next summer and there have been plenty of questions over his future in recent weeks.

Salah has averaged two goal contributions per game this season, helping Liverpool to keep up with early Premier League leaders Manchester City. He was at his brilliant best against Manchester United last weekend as Arne Slot's side cruised to an emphatic 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

After the final whistle, Salah sparked rumours over his future by suggesting that he was in his 'last year' with the Reds. However, it is reported that he would prefer to stay at Anfield for the foreseeable future despite being linked with a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.

The 32-year-old is 'desperate' to sign a new contract at Liverpool and is not thinking about leaving the club, according to the Liverpool Echo. It is said that Salah is prepared to snub the riches that would come with a move to Saudi Arabia in order to keep playing for the Reds.

The report adds that Liverpool rejected a mammoth nine-figure bid for Salah last summer, with the Merseyside giants choosing to keep their star man. The player himself is also keen to extend his stay at the club but recently revealed that discussions are yet to take place.

When asked to clarify his 'last year' comment by Daniel Sturridge on Sky Sports, he said: "I was coming to the game and I said: 'It could be my last time'. The club has not talked to me yet so I will play my last season and see at the end of the season."

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will be able to strike an agreement with Salah to extend his contract over the coming weeks. Arne Slot will be hoping for negotiations to go smoothly after being left thoroughly impressed by his displays so far this season.

Speaking after Liverpool's big win over United, the Dutchman said: "At the moment he is one of ours and I’m really, really happy with him being one of ours. He plays really well. I don’t talk about contracts from players, but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today.

"He was impressive, like in the first two games, but if we talk about an individual you don’t do justice to all the other ones because today we saw a real good team performance."
