Turkish Super Lig side Eyupspor are understood to be trying to push through a deal for Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier.
Turkey’s transfer window remains open until next Friday and champions Galatasaray have also expressed interest in the former England full-back, who is unhappy on Tyneside.
Trippier’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since January, when he fancied joining Bayern Munich but Newcastle turned down a series of offers from the German giants.
And after an extended break following Euro 2024 duty with England this summer, Trippier was upset about losing the Toon team captaincy to Bruno Guimaraes – injured Jamaal Lascelles is club skipper – on the eve of the season.
Tino Livramento was then preferred to Trippier at right-back for the season-opening 1-0 home win over Southampton.
Trippier’s only start so far this term was Wednesday’s Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out victory at Nottingham Forest.
He then announced his retirement from the international game hours before interim boss Lee Carsley named his first England squad earlier this week.
Trippier, who joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid for £12million in January 2022, is out of contract next summer.
And while boss Eddie Howe wants him to stay, the Magpies may decide the time is right to cash in on Trippier, who is approaching his 34th birthday.
