Manchester United are reportedly willing to accept a £48million loss on Jadon Sancho if a permanent buyer comes forward on deadline day. Chelsea and Juventus have been heavily linked with the winger, who is deemed surplus to requirements by Erik ten Hag.

Offloading Sancho is one of the primary points remaining on the to-do list of United sporting director Dan Ashworth. The 24-year-old was once again left out of Ten Hag's matchday squad for the 2-1 defeat at Brighton last time out.

Juventus have held extensive talks to explore the possibility of signing Sancho this summer, but reports indicate that they have now abandoned their pursuit of the wide man.

Chelsea are also said to be keen on Sancho and they could be United's last realistic hope of finding a buyer before the window closes. The Blues are said to be edging closer to an agreement, with a loan and permanent options still on the table.

According to The Athletic, United would be prepared to sell the former Borussia Dortmund star for just £25m. That is just over a third of what they paid to BVB three years ago, with Ashworth and co. set to shoulder an eye-watering £48m loss if they sanction a deal at that price.

Sancho's future could yet depend on what happens to Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling, who has been frozen out of the first-team by manager Enzo Maresca.

United have held talks over a possible swap deal involving Sancho and Sterling, while Arsenal have also been offered the chance to sign the former Manchester City man. The Red Devils may hold the upper hand, however, as the Gunners are thought to be against offering any kind of fee for Sterling.

United, by contrast, can offer Sancho heading in the opposite direction as a form of payment. The former England star fell out with Ten Hag last season and was sent to see out the campaign on loan at Dortmund.

The pair made amends earlier this summer, and Sancho's cameo in the Community Shield defeat to Man City suggested he could continue on at Old Trafford. But he now looks destined to play his football elsewhere this season.

Ten Hag has started the campaign with Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford as his first-choice wingers, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony providing options from the bench.
