Marc Guiu has hinted at a potential departure from Chelsea despite only sealing his move to the Blues last month.

The young talent made a £5million switch from Barcelona to Stamford Bridge in early July. Since then, he's featured in every match of Chelsea's pre-season tour across the US.

Guiu, who has been turning heads with his performances, is vying for a spot on Enzo Maresca's squad alongside Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. The Spanish forward committed to a five-year contract upon his arrival.

Yet, Chelsea supporters might have to wait to see him compete in official matches. The ex-Barcelona prodigy has expressed his readiness for Premier League action but acknowledged the possibility of a loan move before the transfer window closes.

"I still don't know if I will go on loan. I hope to stay, I'm working for it. He (Maresca) told me there was an amazing sporting project full of young talent, that he wanted me to be a part of it and that he had a lot of faith in me and my skills and capabilities," Guiu revealed to the Daily Mail.

"I think I'm ready. We work very hard every day both on and off the pitch, on the physical aspect and the practical. So I think I'm ready to be on the pitch. I'm just focused on the pre-season tour, doing my best and that's what I can say.

"It was a tough decision (to leave Barcelona) but I always wanted to play in the Premier League and this was an amazing opportunity, so I had to go for it.

"I'm very happy I'm at the club. It's an amazing experience. I'm trying to do my best and get the best out of me."

Enzo Maresca

Chelsea's pre-season under new boss Maresca has been challenging, with their only victory coming against Club America. The team drew with Wrexham, suffered a 4-1 defeat to Celtic, and lost 4-2 to Manchester City.

Despite these setbacks, Maresca remains optimistic. He said: "I have no doubts about the progress this team is making in this moment.

"Mistakes are part of the process. I have known City for many years and even in friendly games, they don't concede possession to the opposition, don't concede many chances and they have long [spells of] possession.

"It doesn't matter that it was a friendly game and they didn't have six or seven of their starting players missing, this is the analysis of this moment. In any game, if you concede two goals [early on], it is not good.

"It was a very strange game to be honest. I planned the game and I think the plan was good in terms of the way we wanted to attack and the way we wanted to defend. You plan the game in one way and then you concede two goals which completely changes the dynamic of the game.

"For sure, we don't like to lose games but in this moment, the main focus for me is to see different things and to try to be ready for the official games at the beginning of the season."
