Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has insisted that it's too soon to determine the severity of Marcus Rashford's ankle injury.

Rashford was forced to leave the pitch during United's 3-2 victory over Real Betis in San Diego, after a heavy tackle resulted in an apparent impact injury.

Ten Hag has stated that while it's too early for a definitive diagnosis, Rashford is unlikely to play in their final US tour match against Liverpool in South Carolina this Saturday.

"We have to wait," Ten Hag said. "Of course, we don't take risks in the last game of the tour, going into the season next week already, we go into an important game and we are still 24 hours after a game.

"The final assessment we still have to make and then we will see if they are ready for the game against Liverpool on Saturday."

Antony also suffered an injury during the win over Betis, but it's believed his issue isn't serious and he may be fit to face Liverpool. Several United players are still on extended breaks following their participation in Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

However, Ten Hag confirmed that winger Alejandro Garnacho will return for pre-season training tomorrow. He added: "Of course, we have a plan on every individual when they have to show up. The plan is now running.

"Alejandro will already, tomorrow, start training. Licha will start on Monday so I have it in my mind, and that there is a plan and the need for every player in the off-season. We know every player where they are fitness-wise and next week we have to bring everything together.

"We have to prepare for the season, but we understand that we have to give a performance and that we represent our club and that we represent Premier League football here. So [we have] to find the right balance in this."

Ten Hag also spoke about Scott McTominay, who could leave this summer with Fulham having submitted a second bid - believed to be around £25million - for the midfielder.

And Ten Hag clearly doesn't want him to leave, saying: "I am so pleased with the performance of Scott McTominay. I am so pleased to have him in my squad. With the type of person he is, he has such a huge impact on the team with his performance and team spirit.

"When he is playing more in the advanced position that suits him better, he is so important to making goals in my team. I am very happy to have him in my squad."
