Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon would be keen on joining Liverpool this summer if the opportunity presents itself, according to reports. Gordon has been linked with a potential move to Anfield after emerging as a key man for Newcastle since joining the Magpies last year.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Liverpool were interested in Gordon but a move never materialised and the topic fizzled out. The Reds have since been tipped to reignite their pursuit and will reportedly consider offering their own players in exchange for his signature.

Gordon is a boyhood Liverpool fan and would jump at the chance to join the Merseyside giants if they come calling, according to The Telegraph. It was said last month that reports of their interest resulted in Gordon having his 'head turned' while representing England at Euro 2024.

However, there is no guarantee that Newcastle will be prepared to do business with Liverpool after easing their financial concerns. They have been tipped to sell a handful of important players this summer but have already raised £67million through the exits of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has already made it clear that he would like to keep Gordon, who chipped in with 23 goals and assists last season.

"I’d welcome Anthony back with three arms if I had them," said Howe earlier this month. "He’s an integral part of what we’re doing. We’ve had no conversations over the summer where it has been fractious or negative.

"He’s always been the Anthony Gordon who has given absolutely everything to Newcastle and I want to make that clear to all our supporters. Anthony needs a bit of a break but by the time he comes back, he’ll be ready to go. He’s such an important player for us.

"We didn’t want to lose anybody. Why would we want to lose our best players? We fought really hard to make the right decisions but in those last few weeks it was very, very difficult."

Liverpool, meanwhile, are yet to make any summer signings as they prepare for life without Jurgen Klopp in the dugout. New boss Arne Slot has inherited a strong squad and has insisted that he is not worried about the club's lack of summer business.

"The first aim is to work with these players," he said at a recent press conference. "Of course, it's a disadvantage that many of them aren't here yet. The positive about that is that it's an ideal way to see the younger players and give them playing time.

"The standards are really high when it comes to bringing in new players because we have such a good squad. Of course, Richard [Hughes] and I are trying to improve the squad where possible but that's not that easy."
