Liverpool manager Arne Slot has avoided the temptation to contact fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag since being handed the reins at Anfield. The ex-Feyenoord boss succeeded Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside two years after Ten Hag was given the role of Red Devils manager.
Slot went head-to-head with Ten Hag’s Ajax side during his time as manager of AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord.
And the duo will reignite their rivalry in England throughout the coming season as they battle for league and cup silverware.

Ten Hag was interviewed by Dutch outlet AD ahead of the new season and was asked about Slot’s arrival in the Premier League.
And the 54-year-old explained: “We've played against each other before, of course, but I think that's really great. Also for Dutch football, for our coaching training. I think the fact that Liverpool and Manchester United now have two Dutch managers at the helm is fantastic for our football.
“We haven't had any contact yet, that will come. But I think we give each other everything. It's amazing what Arne has achieved at Feyenoord, how he has helped that club get back on its feet. And the football that Liverpool prefers to play, that also suits Arne Slot. I think it's a very good match.”

Ten Hag has endured a difficult spell in the Old Trafford dugout, with United slumping to their worst ever Premier League position last season after finishing up in eighth.
The Dutchman has, however, managed to guide his side two trophies over the last two seasons after clinching the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup earlier this year.
During that time, Liverpool have won just one major trophy after getting their hands on last season’s Carabao Cup.

But when Ten Hag was told Slot has taken over a side that are in a much stronger position than the United team he inherited two summers ago, he replied: “And I think we've made strides since then, otherwise we wouldn't have won two awards.
“But we have not yet reached the point where there is already a 'winning culture' here in all respects.
“Our standards, our norms and values, still need to be raised. In many areas. Does this club want to go back to where it was more than 10 years ago, to a club that wins the Premier League, that can win Champions Leagues. I think we're still a long way from that.”
