Harry Kane will not give any consideration to retiring from England duty in the wake of their Euro 2024 final defeat, according to reports. The 30-year-old was hooked by Gareth Southgate on the hour mark as Spain left it late to snatch a dramatic victory over the Three Lions.

Kane finished the Euros with three goals to his name but was widely criticised for his performances at the top of the pitch. He failed to have an impact against Spain before he was replaced by Ollie Watkins, who also came on for Kane against the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

It has been suggested in some quarters that Kane could decide to retire from England duty after failing to lead his country to their first major trophy since 1966. However, it seems he will be sticking around for the foreseeable future with his sights firmly set on the 2026 World Cup.

Kane has no plans to step away from international football despite struggling to impress at the Euros, according to The Telegraph. It is said that he will take inspiration from Lionel Messi by prolonging his England career in the hope of finally winning a major tournament.

The former Tottenham striker bagged 44 goals for Bayern Munich last season, marking the best return of his club career to date. He is reportedly expected to be ready to lead England when they return to action in the Nations League, which gets underway in September.

Taking to social media after England's defeat to Spain on Sunday, Kane admitted that he was 'heartbroken' but vowed that he would be 'ready to fight again' for the Three Lions.

He wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Heartbroken we couldn't achieve what we worked so hard to. It was a long tough tournament and I'm so proud of the boys and staff for getting to the final.

"Ultimately we fell short of our target and will have to live with that but as we always do we will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and be ready to fight again in an England shirt. Thank you to all the fans that believed in us and supported us to the very end."

Kane is England's all-time record scorer with 66 goals in 97 appearances for his country since making his debut in 2015. He also has more knockout stage goals at major tournaments than any other European player in history despite failing to win a trophy with the Three Lions.
