‘I got Cat flash and I got Cat style’

The rockabilly band Stray Cats proved in the MTV ‘80s that the coolest music threw back to the ‘50s, with such hits as “Rock This Town” and “Stray Cat Strut.” The band — Brian Setzer on vocals and guitar, Lee Rocker on double bass and acoustic guitar, and Slim Jim Phantom on drums — has broken up and reunited a few times, and is on tour now, landing Tuesday at Red Butte Garden, 301 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City. Opening is The Midnight Cowgirls. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $82 for the public, and available at redbuttegarden.org.

August 9-10

‘All things Westside’

The Westside CultureFest — a free two-day event that “celebrates all things Westside” with art, entertainment, food and cultural performances — happens Friday and Saturday, 5-10 p.m., at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, 2525 Taylorsville Blvd., Taylorsville. The festival, in its second year, will feature two headliners: Lakota alt-rap artist (and Salt Lake City native) Stella Standingbear on Friday at 9 p.m.; and the Lowrider Custom Car Culture Exhibit on Saturday, with a “hop off” at 8 p.m. For details, go to westsideculturefest.org.

August 9-11

Craft Lake City’s summer event

The Craft Lake City DIY Fest marks its 16th year of artists, vendors, makers, music and food starting Friday and running through next Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N. 1000 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City. The musical headliners are indie-pop musician Kacy Hill on Friday, Utah blues-rock band Talia Keys & The Love on Saturday, and a reunion of Salt Lake City rock band Tolchock Trio on Sunday. For tickets and information, go to craftlakecity.com.
