Olivia Rodrigo returns

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo has a Utah connection, having lived here when she was one of the stars of the meta-sitcom “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” — and she has spoken often of writing her songs of heartbreak that comprised her first album, “Sour,” while in Utah. Rodrigo returns to Utah, on an arena tour to promote her sophomore album, “Guts,” Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m., at Delta Center, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Opening the show is PinkPantheress. Tickets are available at deltacenter.com.

Ben Folds, on paper

The pop musician and composer Ben Folds is on tour, with a performance Wednesday, 8 p.m., at Kenley Amphitheater, 403 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton. It’s the “Paper Airplane Request” tour, in which Folds invites audience members to write song requests on paper, then fold the paper into an airplane and throw it to the stage. Opening the show is musician and actor Lindsey Kraft. The show is sold out; Folds will be back in Utah on Sept. 11 at the Noorda Center in Orem.
