Richard Marles says Israel has right to respond to Iran but urges de-escalation amid scramble to get thousands of Australians out of Lebanon

The defence minister says Israel is entitled to respond to Iranian strikes but there should be a de-escalation to avoid adding to the "totally unacceptable" death toll in Gaza and Lebanon.
