Charlotte Jordan, who plays Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley, will be leaving Coronation Street in explosive scenes set to air later this year.
She said last night: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
According to The Sun, sources revealed that despite “loving the show” she is hungry to see what other opportunities await.
The Daisy Midgeley star's exit comes after four soap stars either announced they were quitting or have been written out of the soap since December.
A source told the publication: “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her.
She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline. She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer. She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”
Charlotte continued: “It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.
“After a brilliant four years for Daisy it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
The on-screen star first arrived in 2020 and has been a part of some of the soap's biggest storylines including her stalking ordeal and a plot which saw her take over the Rovers with stolen money.
Alongside her blackmail plot, it culminated in Daisy and co-star Ryan being the victims of an acid attack.
Both the Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International supported the production team when the scenes were filmed, and provided information on the long term impact of an acid attack.
Following the stalking storyline, Charlotte won the British Soap award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2023.
After the New Year departure of actress Helen Worth, who played Gail for 50 years, four more actors are due to leave in 2025.
Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, and Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster) are all set to leave in the coming months, while Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe, has already departed.
Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, is also due to leave, but only temporarily.
The actress announced that she is expecting a baby, so Bethany will be written out for a time while Lucy is on maternity leave.
