Eamonn Holmes says Trump 'wouldn't exist' as a UK politician
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes lost it with Labour MP Karin Smyth in a tense on-air row, fuming: “You will give me an answer.”
The pair were discussing Elon Musk’s foray into UK politics after he called for Nigel Farage to be replaced as Reform UK leader and attacked Labour MP Jess Phillips over grooming gangs.
Presenting the programme alongside Ellie Costello, Eamonn started out by saying: “First of all, could I ask you about Elon Musk? Where do you stand as regards him sticking his nose into British politics?”
Karin responded: “Well look, it’s entirely up to people, wherever they are, to pontificate on whatever they want to. But we’re really concerned here about getting on with governing in this country, which is why we want to get on and talk about the NHS today and waiting lists.”
Interrupting her, Eamonn jumped in to say: “We’re gonna do that, we’re gonna do that. But meanwhile Musk sets the agenda for everybody else, and the truth is, Karin, you’re all… whatever party you’re from, scared stiff of him. Why?”

The MP tried to steer the conversation back to the NHS, arguing: “We want to focus on what’s going on in the country, we want to focus on what happens to people…”
“Look, you can try and talk me down all day on this. You will give me an answer on this. He will dictate the agenda, you know it, everybody around you knows it and everybody in every other party knows it. Is he ruling our country?” Eamonn interjected.
Finally, Karin said a firm: “No, the Prime Minister is running the country.”
Viewers were fuming over the segment, with one writing on X: “They don’t seem to be able to answer the simplest of questions!!! They do not want to be held accountable, but they work for us so why not?!!”
Others, however, told Eamonn it was “time to retire”, with one fan writing: “He couldn’t grill a sausage!” and another agreeing: “Oh dear, time to retire Holmes.”
