GB News viewers were full of praise for presenters Dawn Neesom and Charlie Peters as they fronted the Breakfast show on Tuesday (December 24). The duo stood in for Eamonn Holmes and his new co-host, Ellie Costello, on Christmas Eve.
Last week, there was a huge shake-up at the channel which resulted in Isabel Webster and Mark Dolan getting sacked. Jacob Rees-Mogg was also impacted as his hours were cut from four days a week to just two.
Dawn and investigative reporter Charlie are not among GB News’s regular lead presenters but do guest host during the holidays.
Fans were thrilled to see them together and pleaded for them to be given more airtime.
One GB News fan commented: “Great to have Dawn and Charlie over Xmas. Dawn is so funny. Great presenting.”
Another echoed: “Charlie and Dawn - a good combo!”
A third said: “It’s good to see Charlie getting more airtime, let’s hope it’s not just continues, it’s not just for Christmas.”
While a fourth wrote: “Really loving the show this morning. Dawn and Charlie are great together. Merry Christmas to you and all at GBN.”
Another penned: “Dawn and Charlie… awesome pairing and a credit to the channel. Wishing you both an amazing Christmas.”
Mark Dolan, who had been at the channel since its launch in 2021, spoke out about his exit on Friday.
He said that he was brutally "fired in minutes" after three years of service, but thanked his former bosses for doing it "nicely".
Isabel is yet to speak out about her exit but her co-host Eamonn Holmes responded to the announcement on social media, writing: "Bye my girl x."
Announcing the shake-up on Wednesday, the channel explained that changes to the presenting line-up “will allow us to build on success with a renewed focus and ambition”.
GB News’s Head of Programming and Talent, Ben Briscoe, said: “2024 has been a truly fantastic year for us.
"Not only are we regularly beating the other established news channels, but we are also making inroads against the big public service broadcaster terrestrial channels. Our initiatives will allow us to build on this success with a renewed focus and ambition."
