According to reports, Kay Burley is expected to leave the Sky News breakfast show after five years, and there are whispers her final show could be as early as this week.

Deadline reports that there has been speculation that Burley could leave Sky News altogether, although a new role within the company has not been ruled out.

Burley, 63, moved to the breakfast show in October 2019 after joining Sky News as one of its original presenters in 1989.

She has been at the forefront of some of the biggest news stories, including the death of Princess Diana and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The Express has contacted Sky News and Kay Burley's representative for comment.

Just last month, Kay reflected on her lengthy broadcasting career spanning almost 40 years.

Taking to X/Twitter, she shared a photograph of herself lounging on a large blue sofa and wrote: "Thirty six years today @skynews and counting..."

Her post came after fans voiced their concerns about the presenter following weeks away from the channel.

Kay had been off screens for the best part of the summer but returned at the end of August. Addressing her break, she wrote on X/Twitter: "Thanks for all your very kind messages but summer is over and I’m back on Tuesday.

“Very much looking forward to seeing you from 7am? Do hope so xx”

Sky News has undergone a shake-up in recent months, with a slimmed-down presenting team fronting broadcasts and new co-hosts, including Gareth Barlow and Mhari Aurora.

Earlier this month, the channel's leading business presenter, Ian King, announced he would quit his flagship show, Business Live with Ian King, and leave the company after 10 years.

The news came after filming for Ian's show was moved from its location in London's Square Mile to Sky Group's headquarters in Osterley.

Sky News Group Executive Chairman David Rhodes confirmed his departure. Ian will remain with the channel until spring of next year, and Business Live will continue to air live on weekdays.
