I'm A Celebrity 2008 star Nicola McLean - a former model and TV personality who married footballer Tom Williams a year after taking part in the show - has shared her feelings about current contestant Dean McCullough.

His terror during trials has led to viewers at home nominating him for more Bushtucker trials - and now Nicola has declared his exaggerated reactions are part of a game plan to secure himself extra air time on the show. She also made the jaw-dropping suggestion that co-star Barry McGuigan might have started to become suspicious of his tactics.

Talking to GB News, she claimed: "People in camp are starting to go, 'Are you really scared or are you doing this for the airtime?'" She continued: "I think that Barry sort of clocks on that it might be a bit of a game, but he's not said it outright."

However, his repeated nominations could be edging out other contestants who are desperate to show off their camp skills. Loose Women panellist Jane Moore was reportedly visibly frustrated after failing to secure a trial, following on from an angry outburst against Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan for nominating her to do the washing up - something she branded "sexist" and "ageist".

Accusing Dean of "dominating" the show, Nicola sympathised: "Other people really want to try the trials too - it wouldn't be a jungle experience without having a go," She added that personally she sees WAG Coleen Rooney as a "winner" and is rooting for her to receive more airtime.

Express Online previously reported how Coleen could be exempt from trials due to "medical reasons" as she has been living with reactive arthritis, but she went on to confirm that she intended to do "every" trial, regardless of her health conditions.

Yet it's been BBC Radio 1 star Dean who has been the centre of attention lately, as viewers watched his tearful histrionics at the prospect of being buried in sand and smothered with creepy-crawlies.

His latest task, Jack And The Scream Stalk, went surprisingly well, seeing him claim ten stars for the camp.

He negotiated the challenging climb as host Ant McPartlin, whom some fans suspect has been "annoyed" with Dean, yelled: "Face your fears!"

A previous trial, which saw him climb into a faux sarcophagus and attempt to answer general knowledge questions on Egypt while being buried up to the thighs in sand, failed miserably.

He gave up after receiving just two out of ten stars, claiming he was fearful not of the insects being hurled into the mouthpiece of the sarcophagus, but of being submerged in sand.

However, celebrities quickly lost patience with him - and not just those who were waiting for him to succeed so they could secure a meal that night.

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
