I'm A Celeb: Ant and Dec chat to Dean after trial with Coleen

The I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! hosting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are known for their high energy interactions, but it turns out even the most seasoned presenting pros can have their limits tested.

This week the pair admitted to feeling “exhausted” during their live show preparations due to an unexpected disruption.

Ant and Dec typically get up at 2am Australian time to prepare for their live broadcast, which airs at 9pm UK time.

Their tight schedule requires them to head to bed by 6.30pm, which is already a challenge.

However, on Monday night, just three hours into what Ant called a “really good deep sleep,” the pair were jolted awake by the piercing sound of a fire alarm.

While speaking to fans on Instagram Live, when asked if they were tired, Dec shared: “We are, and I’ll tell you why. There was a fire alarm at 9.30pm.

“I know that might sound early for you, doesn’t it, but we go to bed at 6.30pm.”

Ant chimed in, adding: “Those first three hours are your deep sleep, that’s your really good sleep.”

In response Dec joked: “You can tell he missed out on his beauty sleep last night… look at the state of him today.”

The disruption left the duo struggling to regain their energy for the live show, which airs from the Australian jungle.

Both presenters are staying in their usual £1,000-a-night beachfront penthouse in New South Wales, which is a short drive from the jungle set.

Dec has been joined by his wife, Ali Astall, and their two children, Isla, six, and Jack, two.

Meanwhile Ant is staying with his wife Anne-Marie, and their baby Wilder, who was born in May.

Dec has previously opened up about their intense daily routine, which involves wrapping up filming for the Bushtucker Trial in the afternoon, getting home by 1pm, and squeezing in a brief window of down time before dinner at 4.30pm.

He said that they aim to get to bed by 6.30pm, but admitted that it’s hard to fall asleep that early, and he often ends up winding down by listening to a podcast.
