I'm A Celeb: Jane Moore consoles Barry McGuigan over daughter's death
A beloved I’m A Celebrity star has become the first famous face to quit a trial in this year's series.
The ITV show returned to screens on Tuesday (November 19) with Ant and Dec back at the helm, to check in on the latest batch of celebs in the Aussie jungle.
For this year’s series, stars like Tulisa, Oti Mabuse, Jane Moore, Danny Jones, and Dean McCullough have signed up to rough it up for a few weeks. Coleen Rooney, GK Barry and Melvin Odoom have also joined them, in a bid to be crowned the King or Queen of the Jungle.
And during the latest instalment on Tuesday (November 18) it was time for BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough to take on his first Bushtucker Trial, and second of the series, ‘The Sinister Sarcophagus’.
Arriving at the Trial area, Dean came across a mummy figurine which he had to be locked into for the duration of the Trial. At the same time, he had to answer a series of Egypt-related questions.
For every one he answered correctly, a star would be lowered down and he had to release it using only his mouth within 30 seconds.
Not impressed, Dean told Ant and Dec of the trial: “You’re so extra this series, so extra!” He then added: “I went to Egypt years ago, but I wasn’t paying attention.”
As he entered the sarcophagus, Dean said: This is my worst nightmare because I can’t get out.” Soon enough, sand entered the body compartment as well as giant mealworms and crickets that were tipped into his head compartment.
After answering 2 correct questions and successfully releasing the stars, it all got a bit too much for Dean. So much so, that he shouted the notorious line: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”
Once he was out, Dean broke down in tears, as Ant and Dec stepped in to comfort him. "Hey, hey, you're alright," the hosts reassured him, as Dean tried to catch his breath.
"Sometimes you just can't do it," Ant said, as he Dean continued to cry. After he told the hosts how he didn’t like not being able to move his legs. Ant and Dec then revealed the disappointing news that he only won 2 stars for camp.
Meanwhile on social media, fans were quick to react to Dean quitting the trial, with plenty making a grim prediction. Writing on X, viewers shared how Dean will now likely face the next trial.
"Dean the weasel. More voting for him," said one person. Someone else added: “Oh Dean get ready for a few more trials." A third chimed in: "Everyone is going to vote for Dean again."
I'm A Celebrity airs Monday to Sunday on 9pm on ITV1.
