Another Coronation Street star heads to I'm A Celeb jungle as fans beg 'what's happening'

Coronation Street fans have been shocked to see another soap star appear in I’m A Celebrity in a surprise twist.

Colson Smith revealed that he headed into the jungle today - following hot on the heels of his co-star, Alan Halsall.

Halsall was previously announced as part of this year's I’m A Celeb lineup, but viewers did not expect Smith to join him.

The actor, best known for playing policeman Craig Tinker on Coronation Street, posted on Instagram today gushing about his role on I’m A Celebrity Unpacked.

The spin-off show features interviews with contestants who have been voted off the reality show and behind-the-scenes footage from the jungle.

Smith posted a photo of himself on set for the spin off show, writing: “BEST JOB EVER.”

He also spoke about how it felt to finally see the I’m A Celeb set on his stories, adding: “THIS IS SOOO MAD. Jungle Fan Boy. I got so starstruck by seeing the bridge.”

Several followers expressed their excitement for him – but many were left questioning why he is taking time out from Coronation Street as a crucial storyline comes to a head.

Police recently ruled Joel Deering’s death as foul play and have been on the hunt for his killer, so given Smith plays a member of the force on the ITV soap, fans are baffled that he has been able to jet off to Australia.

One worried person asked: “Have you left Corrie?”

Another joked: “There’s a killer on the loose in Weatherfield and you’re swanning about in Australia; country’s gone to the dogs.”

A third speculated: “Omg you killed Joel and that’s why you've been able exit the cobbles for I'm A Celeb - unbelievable plot twist.”

However, others were quick to congratulate him, with one saying: “Nah I absolutely love this! Where’s that little kid gone from Corrie haha?! So proud of how far you’ve come.”

Another exclaimed: “You KILLED IT!!”
