Strictly: Tasha and Aljaž perform the Quickstep

Strictly Come Dancing returned to BBC with week eight of the competition and despite the excitement and anticipation, fans pointed out a distracting complaint.

Aljaz Skorjanec and reality star Tasha Ghouri were the first couple to hit the dance floor with a quick step to Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit Fantasy.

Despite their impressive performance, viewers struggled to get past the fast-paced version of the iconic song.

As a result, fans took to X with backlash, including @living_2020 who remarked: “Not a great match with the music but a brilliant dance by Tasha.”

@evieeden fumed: “What is this awful version of Mariah Carey?! If the song doesn't fit the style of dance you want then choose another song!”

@Kelly_xm_ echoed: “Rather than have a song with the beat that is right for the dance, they pick a slow Mariah Carey song add the beat and speed it up, it doesn't work.”

Another viewer @TraylorHolmes stated: “The arrangement of that song was horrible.”

As @RightEyeReynolz questioned: “What have they done to 'Fantasy'? I do not like that.”

Despite this, the performance impressed fans and judges who shared nothing but compliments.

During the feedback, judge Anton Du Beke shared: “Well, if you want to book yourself a place at Blackpool next week, this is exactly the way you do it. That was an extraordinary quick step.”

While Craig Revel Horwood thought it was “safe,” Motsi Mabuse said it was a “great, great opening.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “I think you offered everything we needed to see in a quick step,” and together they Aljaz and Tasha a score of 37 points.
