Escape to the Country: House hunter consoled after tearing up
In an emotional segment on BBC's Escape to the Country, viewers were given details on a family's poignant motivations for relocating to rural areas.
The episode featured host Sonali Shah guiding Karin and her son Charlie, who, after over two decades in Sutton, were inspired to move near Edinburgh because of a significant change in their lives.
Karin shared the heart-rending reason behind their decision: "We've lived in this house for twenty-plus years, but Charlie was diagnosed with MS three years ago, and we just changed our outlook on everything."
Charlie, who returned from Canada as a trained ski instructor, faced difficulties due to his diagnosis. He confided: "It was right after I came back from Canada, training to be a ski instructor, which I did become one."
Adapting to his condition, Charlie has traded skiing for artistry, pursuing painting seriously and seeking a residence that can accommodate his creative pursuits. He expressed his need for a space conducive to his artwork, reports Wales Online.

The NHS website educates that "Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. It cannot currently be cured, but treatment can often help manage it."
Sonali, the presenter, expressed her support for the mother-son duo Karin and Charlie as they planned their life-altering relocation.
She remarked, "As I was watching Karin and Charlie in their current property, I was thinking about everything they've gone through and how much of a major move this is."

She continued to reflect on their resilience, noting: "They've been through so much that they have life in perspective, don't they? They know what's important, they know what their priority is. They want to spend more time together, and they want that to be easy."
Their desire to relocate wasn't just about change; closeness to family played a big role, as Karin wanted to be nearer to her other son, who resides in Scotland. Karin's partner was also set to join them in this new chapter.
While house-hunting, the second property they viewed seemed to strike a chord, with signs of them possibly finding their dream home. Yet, despite their love for the place, they were not in a hurry to make an immediate offer.
Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
