Coronation Street enthusiasts are positive that Cassie Plummer, portrayed by Claire Sweeney, is up to no good, potentially plotting to con the unsuspecting Ken Barlow, played by William Roache, out of his fortune. In a recent episode aired on Sunday (October 27), the scene unfolded with Ken growing closer to Cassie as they toyed with the idea of jetting off together to Porto.
Cassie first appeared as a helper for Ken after he endured a nasty fall, leaving him dismayed by his sudden dependence.
Despite not being a professional carer and fibbing about her credentials from an agency, Cassie stood by Ken's side, assisting him in regaining his autonomy.
Quite miraculously, their bond cemented into a warm friendship even after Ken discovered Cassie wasn't who she claimed to be, choosing instead to let her remain by his side.
However, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) harboured doubts concerning Cassies 'true' motives after she gleefully agreed to an enchanting holiday in Portugal with Ken.
As Ken and Cassie revelled in anticipation of their voyage, Steve teased: "Spending all his money again, I see," casting a shadow over their sunny plans.
Steve couldn't hold back his suspicions, probing Cassie on her continual presence around a now-recovered Ken, only to be shut down with a curt, "none of his business" from her.
Complications ensued when Ken, freshly geared up in his new vacation wear following a splashy shopping spree, surprised Cassie with an extravagant pink jacket as a token of gratitude, much to the annoyance of a watchful Steve, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Cassie made the decision to return a jacket and receive her money back, but not without slipping some cash into her pocket before returning the remainder to Ken.
She confided in Steve that she had innocent motives and enjoyed Ken's company, which prompted an apology from him.
Yet, fans of Coronation Street are sceptical, with many suspecting Cassie might have her sights set on Ken's wallet as their friendship blossoms.
One social media user quipped on platform X: "I actually like spending time with Ken' - Translation: 'I love my current account with the Bank of Ken!'#Corrie."
Another fan gushed sarcastically: "Ken and Cassie - friendship goals! Know where's the rich old men at so I can fleece them for a freebie hols? #corrie." (sic).
Adding to the suspicion, a third commented: "Still waiting on Cassie trying to get her hands on his money mind Corrie", while another teased the storyline with: "Sugar daddy ken #corrie."
