Strictly Come Dancing contestant Wynne Evans has recounted an 'embarrassing' moment that served as the catalyst for his remarkable seven-stone weight loss. The opera star, beloved for his role in the Go.Compare adverts, embarked on a transformative health journey prior to joining the BBC dance competition.
Speaking to Sorted Food on YouTube, the 52 year old described a cringe-worthy incident during a camping trip that propelled him to shed pounds: "I think - this is so embarrassing right, and I've never told anyone this - I went camping, and I sat on a chair, and it just smashed underneath me."
He continued, sharing how multiple chairs gave way beneath him, highlighting the need for change: "So, I thought I'd sit on that chair, and that smashed as well and I thought: 'This has to come to an end because I'm smashing chairs left right and centre."
Tonight at 6.25pm on BBC One, Wynne will hit the Strictly dance floor with partner Katya Jones once again. Following his camping misadventure, he made sweeping alterations to his diet, casting aside burgers, bread, cheese, and reducing his alcohol consumption.

In his own candid words: "A year ago, I was 23 stone. I've lost seven stone in the last year," reports Wales Online.
He shared his strategies for success with the podcast: "So I had to kind of give up the bread and the burgers and the cheese. I love cheese. I could eat a cheese sandwich while I'm cooking."
Walking more, cutting back on calories, and moderating his drinking were all part of his concerted effort towards better health.
Wynne and Katya found themselves embroiled in a recent Strictly scandal. Earlier this month, viewers observed Katya moving Wynne's hand away from her midriff, leading to claims that the opera singer had made his professional partner 'uncomfortable'.

However, 35 year old Katya dismissed any offence, as the duo defended their 'joke gone wrong'. Wynne vowed to continue entertaining people, though they won't repeat their ill-received joke.
Speaking at the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain awards, he said: "Wynne and Katya found themselves at the centre of the latest Strictly controversy a couple of weeks ago.
"Earlier this month, Katya was seen moving Wynne hand away from her midriff, prompting viewers to claim the opera singer had made his professional partner 'uncomfortable'.
Katya, 35, insisted she was not offended as the pair defended their 'joke gone wrong'. Wynne pledged to continue making people laugh although the pair won't repeat their joke that backfired badly.
