Good Morning Britain has issued an announcement on who will be presenting the show's special on the aftermath of the US election.

The 2024 election sees Kamala Harris take on Donald Trump in a closely-run race, with the results finally being revealed on November 5.

In a statement, GMB's official X page revealed Susanna Reid and Ed Balls would be leading the show, penning: "Join @susannareid100 & @edballs the morning after the US election live from Washington DC.

"We'll have a full election results special with correspondents around the US and incredible guests including Stormy Daniels, Jon Sopel and Donald Trump’s nephew Fred Trump III and Sarah Palin.

"Bringing you the latest news as America decides and a full digest on what the results in the US could mean for us in the UK."

The announcement brought a mixed response from viewers, as one said: "I don’t think GMB have displayed any impartiality in the last 3 months so lord knows how they’ll cover this. Why get the political powerhouse that is Madeley in as well."

Another added: "Very republican guest lineup."

A third chimed in: "@GMB are just not reading the narrative that people are fed up with their biased reporting."

A fourth penned: "Oh no not Ed. He can’t even read the autocue."

The announcement comes after Susanna was confirmed to be taking a break from the show for the October half-term.

Her co-star Richard Arnold halted the show on Wednesday to reveal Susanna was taking the break to spend some time with her family. It is not known who will fill in her for during her time off.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
