Strictly: Katya Jones issues statement defending Wynne Evans

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have once again raised concerns over the fairness of the show's scoring system, accusing judges of favouring Wynne Evans after his performance last night.

Wynne received an impressive trio of nines for his quickstep performance, sparking a backlash among viewers who believe the high scores may have been undeserved.

The opera singer faced controversy on last Saturday’s live show when he placed his arm around his dancing partner's waist, sliding it onto her stomach.

Katya appeared displeased and quickly pushed him away, which led viewers to question the interaction.

Following the backlash online, Wynne and Katya posted an apology video on Instagram, with Katya clarifying that the incident was merely an inside joke.

Wynne, who was “heartbroken” by the accusations, also addressed the situation on BBC Radio Wales.

He explained that he and Jones are close friends and that the joke had been “totally misinterpreted”.

Despite Wynne and Katya's attempts to clear the air, some fans of the show were remained convinced that the incident was inappropriate.

Many took to social media during the latest episode to accuse the judges of over-marking Evans’ performance in a bid to downplay last week's drama and protect his standing on the show.

One viewer said: "To give Wynne and Katya two nines for the worst dance tonight just shows how fixed it is. Trying to change the public's mind? It ain't gonna work."

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one stating: "That score for Wynne and Katya was absolutely b****s ... smacks of trying to protect him because they know people might not vote after the drama last week."

Another fan remarked, "Nine???? F*** off. Guess who Strictly are stacking the decks for. Ain't gonna happen now. Wynne Evans needs to be gone."

Despite receiving hate from some, Wynne has also received an outpouring of support from many of his fans.

The Welsh man wrote a heartfelt tribute to his followers on Instagram last night, telling them: "Thanks for all the wonderful messages. I’m certainly feeling love."
