Strictly: Wynne and Katya issue apology on Instagram

Welsh singing sensation Wynne Evans could be set to waltz off Strictly Come Dancing as the odds are slashed for his exit.

The accomplished tenor, best known for his role in the Go Compare adverts, sees his odds tumbling to 5/1 as the third favourite for the chop from the glitzy dance floor this weekend, according to leading betting company Ladbrokes.

He has also been placed at 6/1 to quit the show by Ladbrokes following his awkward two moments with Katya Jones during the live show, which saw her move his arm from her waist and reject his high five.

The pair then issued an awkward apology to fans, but the Go Compare star is still facing backlash from fans.

Wynne has since issued a statement, saying on BBC Radio Wales: "Basically, firstly I want to say I'm absolutely heartbroken about the things that are being said about me in the past day. It's not nice to live in that time.

"Katya and I are really really close and we're really good friends and on Saturday night, we made a stupid joke that went wrong. We thought it was really funny. It has been totally misinterpreted."

The star's journey on the hit TV show hangs in the balance after recent events saw his chances of winning recede dramatically, now standing at a distant 33/1, a stark contrast to his previous 20/1 placement. Meanwhile, former footballer Paul Merson has become the top contender for the next elimination with odds at 6/5.

On the brighter side of the ballroom, Chris McCausland has charmed the nation and currently leads as the punters' choice at 6/5, with Tasha Ghouri close behind at 11/4, an outcome bolstered by her impressive leaderboard score.

Nicola McGeady, Ladbrokes representative, commented on the shift stating: "Wynne Evans was embroiled in controversy over the weekend which has taken a big toll on his popularity. He is now in the danger zone to be the fourth celebrity eliminated from the show."

For other stars in danger, Paul Merson is the front runner as he is the bookies' likely next departure at 6/5. He is followed by Punam Krishnan at 5/2, and Pete Wicks at 9/1. Shayne Ward, who narrowly beat Nick Knowles in the dance off, has odds of leaving at 12/1.

But in happier news, these are the latest odds for who is most likely to win the show. Chris McCausland looks unstoppable at 4/6, while Tasha Ghouri follows suit with her dance moves priced at 11/4.

Sarah Hadland comes in at 8/1, while her fellow competitors like JB Gill, Montell Douglas, Pete Wicks are middle of the pack with 16/1 and 25/1 respectively.

For the other stars, Shayne Ward has drifted to 40/1, while Paul Merson and Punam Krishan are seen as unlikely champions at 100/1.
