Susanna Reid hit out at the Labour Party this morning as she questioned the whereabouts of the Foreign Secretary, David Lammy. She was joined by co-star Ed Balls and show guests Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire as they discussed the Labour Party's notable absence from the media, amid fears that the Middle East could be on the brink of an all-out war.

Currently, there is a political conference taking place in Birmingham, with Mr Lammy seemingly giving it a miss. Susanna made note of this as she said: "There is a kind of convention that when the political conferences are on, members of the other party don't do big interviews.

"But the viewers must be thinking 'but we're on the brink here in the Middle East'." She quizzed: "Why isn't the Foreign Secretary out there on Good Morning Britain?

"We have a short clip of the Prime Minister at the podium. But there's no guest on the programme this morning."

Kevin agreed as he said: "Susanna, you're right. Look, we live in a democracy. There's got to be scrutiny and accountability.

"David Lammy, the Foreign Secretary, or John Healey the Defence Secretary, or one of their ministirial team should be out explaining the UK position and what it means for us.

"You could get sucked into a major war in the Middle East with huge consequences."

Fans of the ITV show joined Susanna and the show guests in criticising the Labour party. One user on X/Twitter wrote: "I think even Larry (The Downing Street Cat) knows Lammy is way out of his depth at the Foreign Office.

"If they had to give him a quota job, Minister for Wales would maybe suit - that won't tax him too much and not much to mess up - as they do it themselves."

Someone else added: "I will say again - Labour need better advice and sharpen up their politics!"

A third said: "Yes, your government should step up and explain itself, and it’s reasoning for being in the Middle East! Better place to do this on GMB!!"
