Lib Dem Tim Farron 'applauded' by Question Time audience

Question Time presenter Fiona Bruce was forced to halt the show to issue a correction after shutting down a guest on the show.

Reform Party chairman Zia Yusuf appeared on the political panel show and when he called out the huge number of asylum seekers coming into Britain, BBC host Fiona was quick to intervene.

Yusuf pointed out that the UK takes in more asylum seekers per capita than France, but Fiona abruptly shut him down.

She said: "Just quickly Zia, France takes more per capita, in terms of asylum seekers, I think Germany might do as well, we are quite far down the list," before insisting on moving back to the audience questions.

However, later in the show, Fiona was forced to pause the show to correct herself, as she said: "Actually before we move on, I just want to say, Zia, you are right, in fact, that France takes fewer asylum seekers per capita than United Kingdom.

"We take more than that, it's important to get that right. Okay let's move on," but failed to issue an apology to viewers at home.

Viewers of the show rushed to social media to share their fury at Fiona's behaviour, as one said: "The bias seen on program by Fiona Bruce is unacceptable.

"Clearly tried to shut down and argue points with @ZiaYusufUK at every opportunity. Biased audience selection again by BBC not reflecting UK population."

GB News presenter Alex Armstrong said: "What an absolute embarrassment. BBC have to fact check themselves in real time."

Another viewer chimed in: "Just watched Question Time. Fiona Bruce constantly interrupting the panel, and the usual ‘impartial’ audience in Milton Keynes. The best person on the panel was from Reform, and as expected, his views were not popular. Nothing changes."

One viewrr agreed: "Fiona Bruce is a disgrace here."
