Coronation Street is set to deliver a series of explosive scenes next week.
Spoilers reveal that the mysterious new plan of villain Joel Deering (played by Calum Lill) will be unveiled, causing a stir on the cobbles. Meanwhile, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) finds herself in a life-threatening situation. In another twist, Hope Stape's (Isabella Flanagan) secret vaping habit comes to light.
The drama kicks off with Carla Connor (Alison King) suggesting that Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) might rekindle their relationship while Bethany is away in Turkey working on an advertorial for a cosmetic surgery facility.
This suggestion irks Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), but she soon has bigger problems when Daniel receives a call from a Turkish number informing him that Bethany is in intensive care and they need to fly to Turkey immediately.
Adding to the tension, Sarah discovers her passport has expired and due to the severity of Bethany's medical woes, there are complications with her travel insurance. As a result, Bethany cannot leave the country until her £25K medical bills are settled.
Later in the week, as Bethany thankfully wakes up, Sarah is forced to deliver some life-altering news. In the meantime, Daniel shares his plans with Daisy to start a crowdfunding page to cover Bethany's medical costs.
However, the week concludes on a distressing note as Bethany's condition deteriorates and she struggles to breathe. Will Bethany be alright and what has transpired?
Elsewhere on the cobbles, the villainous Joel raises eyebrows with his actions as he presents ex Dee-Dee Bailey with their wedding rings, proclaiming his enduring love for her and that the rings symbolise everything he's lost. Dee-Dee recoils at the gesture while her protective family intervene.
Later in the week, Lauren Bolton admits to Dee-Dee that she's been tracking Joel via an app due to his concerning behaviour. Lauren discloses that Joel has spent a significant amount of time in a field, then an industrial park and, in an even stranger turn of events, he has transferred £5k into her account without any explanation.
At the week's end, it's a poignant day for Dee-Dee as she informs her family that it should have been her wedding day. Meanwhile, alone in his flat, Joel opens his notebook and pens a letter.
Later, encountering Roy Cropper alone, Joel stumbles into the cafe clutching a bottle of whisky, clearly intoxicated and locks the door behind him. Is Roy in danger and what does Joel have in store?
Elsewhere next week, Fiz and Tyrone Dobbs are taken aback when they discover Hope Stape's vaping habit after receiving a call from her school during Fiz's 40th birthday celebration. Later in the week, despite being warned about the dangers of vaping, defiant Hope swipes some vapes from the corner shop.
However, her cunning plan doesn't quite work out as she knocks some vapes off the shelf while exiting the shop. Aadi Alahan spots the vapes on the floor, sparking his curiosity. Has Hope been found out once more?
