LW: Coleen Nolan opens up about her family feud

An episode of Loose Women became particularly emotional as Coleen Nolan confessed that the thing she fears most "as a mum" is her children no longer speaking to each other.

The discussion took a poignant turn on the ITV show when Prince William's birthday wishes for Prince Harry led to reflections on sibling rifts. Coleen compared the Royal brothers' estrangement to her past troubles with her own sisters.

Jane Moore opened up about the princes, noting that since they've lost motherly figures like Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II, there's no one to knit the family back together, saying: "I wonder that they don't have that woman in their lives going, 'Come on, sort yourselves out'".

Echoing this sentiment, Coleen expressed her belief that, had Diana been alive, the rift between her sons wouldn't exist: "I genuinely believe that if Diana was still here it would never have got to this. They both idolised her and she absolutely idolised them."

Coleen delved deeper into personal experiences, touching on her belief that her own maternal presence prevents long-lasting conflicts: "I think it's really important. The fall-out I had with my family, with my sisters, for like four years... I don't think that would have continued as long as it did had my mum still been around."

She continued with concern: "Because you go, 'We don't want to upset mum, it's not worth upsetting mum'. It's the worst thing that could happen to me as a mum, that my kids all fall out and not speak to each other. I couldn't bear the thought of it," reports the Mirror.

Ruth Langsford lent her voice to the conversation, offering reassurance: "But if they did, I know you would step in and go, 'Come on, we can sort this out, you need to talk to each other'."

Coleen humorously concluded: "Yeah, definitely you would! Or I'd just move away and let them get on with it, I don't know!"

Coleen Nolan confessed to a four-year silence with her sisters, only broken by the tragic death of their sister Bernie in 2013. She revealed: "Because we're family there is also this very very deep love for each other. Losing my sister Bernie brought all of that up and whatever we disagree on it's not worth not speaking to each other because ultimately we love each other."

Despite the rift between the sisters, their children maintained their bond, remaining "so close" throughout the period. Coleen added: "The only thing we revisit is how silly it was. We lost four years of speaking to each other. It took Bernie's death for us to start talking again."

Anne Nolan experienced a moment of shock when she was excluded from The Nolans' tour in 2009, which included Maureen, Linda, Coleen and Bernie with Denise also being left out.
