The Grand Tour: Final episode teased in Prime Video trailer

The Grand Tour trio's car adventures ended on Friday after 22 years together. Jeremy Clarkson and his co-stars Richard Hammond and James May bid an emotional farewell much to the devastation of fans.

While they embarked on their usual adventure in Zimbabwe a particular moment stood out for the trio as they travelled back to where it all began.

Jeremy is overwhelmed with emotion as he spots the same old cars without doors they had previously driven in during their Botswana special in 2007.

He calls out to his pal James, who is also surprised to see the same vehicles they had driven in the same spot where they had left them several years ago.

"I don't believe it, that is astonishing, I am slightly choked up. It's my old Lancia. My heart has gone nuts," Jeremy remarked.

As they continued their journey viewers choked back tears as Jeremy, James and Richard drove across Makgadikgadi salt pan, on the Kubu Island.

Their adventure wrapped up on the same island where their Botswana special had started.

As they walked across the rocks flashback moments from their time on the island 17 years ago came up on the screen.

Richard could be seen placing his hand on the Baoubub tree in the same way he did back in 2007, as the trio followed the exact same route they had previously taken.

One viewer tweeted: "It is soooo sad."(sic)

Another commented: "Thank you so much @Jeremy Clarkson, @RichardHammond and @MrJamesMay for everything! I have drawn a tribute painting for you, it’s the least I could do to thank you for all the good times I had watching you."

A third wept: "I'm in tears," while a fourth person shared a heartbroken emoji.

Another added: "The end of an era. We're gonna miss you. Thanks for all the fun times you gave us. Godspeed."

The Grand Tour: One for the Road is available to stream on Prime Video
