GB News Assistant Editor James Liney said: "Smashed it mate, well done!" as Alex replied: "Thanks so much James. Could not have done it without you and the brilliant producers."

Fans also responded to his post as one said: "Well done Alex, you were great. Even the most experienced presenters encounter glitches all the time. It must be such a nerve -racking experience and you passed it with flying colours. Hope you do it again soon."

Another added: "You were great and I hope you have more presenting duties coming up?"

A third chimed in: "Class job presenting mate."

This comes after Ray Addison announced he was leaving the channel as he presented his final ever show on Thursday August 29.

GB News confirmed: ""Today, @RayAddisonLive presented his final report on @GBNEWS. Ray has reported on some of the biggest stories spanning both sides of the Atlantic, as well as presenting the bulletins.

"We at GBN Updates will miss Ray very much, and wish him all the best for whatever comes next."
