Trailer for season three of Evil on Paramount

Evil’s renewal campaign could gain some speed after iconic horror author Stephen King recently shared his love for the show.

The drama first premiered on CBS before moving to Paramount+ and follows three unique individuals who are tasked by the Catholic Church to investigate supernatural phenomena.

Katja Herbers leads the series as forensic psychologist Dr Kristen Bouchard, who casts a rational eye over the spooky events.

She’s joined by Catholic seminarian David Acosta (played by Mike Colter) and sceptical technology contractor Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi).

Sadly, their investigations came to an end earlier this month, but that hasn’t stopped lead actress Katja from lobbying for its continuation.

The actress has petitioned streaming platforms like Netflix to give the series a second chance, but sadly nothing has been confirmed so far.

Her campaign to save Evil recently received its biggest boost of support yet, however, as The Shining author Stephen recently called the show “VERY scary”.

An interview clip of the bestselling writer was spread online this week in which he said of the series, “It’s great. It’s funny and it’s witty and it’s very, very sharp.”

He later continued showering the show with praise on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as “smart, thought-provoking, occasionally VERY scary.

“Plus, the chemistry between the three evil-hunters is strong and… to quote [presidential candidate] Kamala [Harris]… joyful.”

Katja couldn’t suppress her excitement, replying “Holy s**t!” and “OKAY CAN WE DO THE PICK UP NOW?” to the interview clip.

After seeing further praise from the author on X, she went on to respond: “K maybe we can do the pick up now. We’re honored. Thank you.”

Co-creator Robert King also added Stephen’s praise was “such an honor”, humorously adding, “By the way, no relation”.

Evil’s conclusion was first announced back in February this year, leaving an army of fans distraught.

Despite coming to an end this month, it has remained on Nielsen’s weekly US ranking of streaming originals for 11 straight weeks, according to TVLine.

Plus, after seasons one and two were added to Netflix in the US recently, it ranked in the number two position on Nielsen’s originals chart for a whole month.

It’s currently ranking number five on the list of streaming originals, having pulled in a staggering 400 million minutes on Netflix and Paramount+.

Could this be the sign that Netflix - or another streamer - isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to Kristen, David and Ben yet?

Evil is available to stream on Paramount+.
