Ant and Dec surprise pupils with school visit

Stephen Mulhern is once again teaming up with Ant and Dec as they take on a new adventure in a much-anticipated travel series titled, The Accidental Tourist.

The ITV show, co-produced by South Shore and Mitre Studios, is set to launch in 2025. The announcement comes on the heels of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away wrapping up in April 2024, a beloved variety series that captivated audiences with its prize giveaways.

Despite bidding farewell to their previous hit, the Geordie pair returned to our screens this year to host Britain's Got Talent and are scheduled to front the upcoming season of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in November.

Dec shared his excitement about the project, saying: "We can't wait to send Stephen off on his exotic journey of self-discovery and see what he uncovers," reports Wales Online.

Ant chimed in with equal enthusiasm, jesting: "It's going to be a lot of fun, for us mainly, not so much for Stephen!"

Renowned for steering shows like Catchphrase and Deal or No Deal, Stephen is someone who cherishes the familiar circuit - distant travels, exotic foods, and plunging into the unknown aren't exactly his cup of tea.

Enter Ant and Dec, ready to turn Stephen's routine upside down they've got plans to whisk their pal off to Asia, in a bid to broaden his horizons.

In an exclusive special, Stephen will be stepping out of his comfort zone to unearth the adventurer within. Ant and Dec, drawing on their favourite viral sensations, are sending their co-star to uncharted territories to test himself and to expand his boundaries.

Stephen is set to encounter awe-inspiring landscapes, vibrant cultures, and cuisines, remarkable individuals and locales, and partake in exhilarating activities that he would never have picked for himself.

Discussing the series, he remarked: "Travelling and adventure have never been on my list of favourite things... so to say I'm nervous would be a huge understatement! This project sort of feels like the world's worst bucket list!

"There are lots of things I love in life, just as much as there are things I don't like; fancy food, exotic places, and even the sound of the cutlery scraping on the food tins on I'm A Celebrity can tip me over the edge! I've never even had a cup of coffee... so don't get me started on avocado!

"In this case, I can't help but feel I'm going to be facing them all! I like to have a lot of laughs during the shows I present, but I've got a sense you'll be seeing a lot more emotions than just laughter on this journey! I hope you enjoy it and please wish me luck!"

Melanie Leach, CEO at South Shore, chimed in: "We are very much looking forward to expanding Stephen's horizons alongside his culinary palette with the help of Ant and Dec and our friends at Mitre Studios."

The Accidental Tourist is set to air in 2025 on ITV.
