Coronation Street: Joel opens a package to reveal box of pills
A Coronation Street favourite could be set to get killed off by Joel Deering in a harrowing twist.
Despite rocking up to the cobbles as a nice guy last year, sicko solicitor Joel (Calum Lill) has shown his true colours in recent months. Recently, it was revealed he was behind the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Joel wormed his way into Lauren’s life after helping her out with bills, eventually coercing her into a sexual relationship. He then left her for dead after bashing her head in, following a heated argument where Lauren mentioned fiancee Dee-Dee’s name.
However, after going missing for several months, Lauren returned to Weatherfield - revealing to Joel she was pregnant with his child. Since then, Joel has tried to secure her silence by giving her a place to stay at his old flat.
He has also promised to pay for her to go to Ireland to start a new life - with Joel revealing she was flying out on August 12 and he had three weeks to sort everything out.

However, in a sickening twist, Joel ended up giving Lauren drugs to inside a premature labour - leading to the birth of their baby boy last week. Meanwhile, Joel has also found himself being blackmailed by newbie Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) - the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
Betsy has been blackmailing Joel for a few weeks after she noticed his creepy behaviour towards her friend Sabrina. And in Monday’s episode (August 5) Joel found out that Betsy’s mum is Lisa Swain - leaving him shaken.
Now, fans fear it’s only a matter of time until Joel ‘snaps’ and murders someone - and they reckon it’ll be Betsy. Especially as over in the soap this week, spoilers have confirmed things take a harrowing turn.

Later this week, Betsy corners Joel and demands £100 from him, or she’ll blab about him picking up young girls. Fuming, Joel loses his temper and then drags her into the ginnel.
Rushing to a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer said: “Joel looks worried now he knows who Betsy’s mum is.” Someone else replied: “Think he will kill her next he's frightened she will expose him.” A third wrote: “Will Joel kill Betsy now in case she blabs to her mum?”
Echoing their thoughts, another fan penned: “He’s definitely closing to snapping.” A fifth said: “Joel knows DI Swain is Betsy’s mum. He will have to get rid of her now. Run Betsy.”
