Friends cast say emotional goodbye in final episode in 2004
Friends aired its final episode 20 years ago, but fans still love to rewatch the series today.
The show ran for 10 years, between 1994 and 2004, and finished on 10 seasons with 236 episodes. It has been regarded as one of the most popular US sitcoms in television history — but that doesn't mean it was without its flaws.
Many fans have noticed 'major inconsistencies' in the show - with some errors spanning multiple episodes. A social media user, who posts under the username @eugeneTV, has shared three he spotted in the show that have left other fans flabbergasted.
Door numbers
The first mistake fans spotted was the change in the numbers on the doors. The numbers started low in the first season but when it was pointed out that they weren't realistic for the characters living on an upper floor, they had to be changed.
In the video, which has gained more than 300 likes, the TikTok user said: "The same apartments are seen throughout the series, but the numbers seem to change back and forth, even though the friends never change apartments.
"At the beginning, Monica's apartment is five and Chandler's (Matthew Perry) is four. After realizing that these numbers were too low for being upstairs, they changed them to 20 and 19."
Window view
The second error was also related to the location of Monica and Rachel's (Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston) apartment. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the views would change outside of their window - from a brick wall to a cityscape.
"The city is completely built up from the very beginning, but the view outside of Monica's window changes from time to time," the social media user said. "At one point, fans saw a brick wall, then a clothesline, then a complete cityscape. And since they never moved, this just doesn't make any sense."
Ross's London wedding
The One With Ross's Wedding aired in season 4, episodes 23 and 24, where Ross (David Schwimmer) married posh Brit Emily (Helen Baxendale) get married in London. "Everyone except for a very pregnant Phoebe was present for the wedding" - apart from his son Ben, from his first marriage with Carol.
Fans had theories about why this happened. "Some fans believe that this is due to losing visitation rights, many others believe that this was just a mistake on the writer's part," the Friends fans claimed.
TikTok users were left stunned by the errors as they took to the comments to give their opinion. One user said: "If these are the biggest inconsistencies then it is clear how good the show was," while another added: "Carol didn’t go. She probably didn’t want Ben to go alone. Ross would’ve been too busy to entertain him. Chandler was too busy boning Monica. And Joey…?"
