Devastation rippled through the Vera fandom in April when ITV chiefs dropped the bombshell that the 14th instalment would be the final curtain for the much-adored series. This revelation struck a chord with dedicated fans worldwide who have cherished Brenda's iconic character for over ten years.
The production of the concluding two feature-length episodes of Vera kicked off in May, with filming taking place in various locations including Blyth, Gateshead, South Shields, and Glanton.
The ultimate day of shooting fell on Friday, July 12, leaving BAFTA laureate Brenda expressing feelings of being 'tired and emotional' while her colleague Riley, portraying Mark Edwards, confessed to shedding tears en route to Newcastle for his last shoot.
As anticipation builds for the airing of Vera's 14th series, devotees are pleading for ITV to greenlight a spin-off titled Young Vera, suggesting it as an avenue to perpetuate the saga that outperformed BBC's Call The Midwife in viewership earlier this year.

Echoing this sentiment on X, a fan stated: "People are going to miss Vera so much. Now we need ITV to commission Young Vera. I'd love to see her early days on screen."
