Nicola Sturgeon introduced onto election show panel

ITV viewers issued the same complaint just minutes after tuning into the General Election coverage.

On Thursday evening (July 4), Tom Bradby was joined by George Osborne, Nicola Sturgeon and Ed Balls to deliver the 2024 results on ITV.

Bradby, 57, who anchored election nights in 2015, 2017 and 2019, was also joined by ITV News' Robert Peston, Anushka Asthana and Paul Brand.

But the line-up didn't sit well with viewers as they took to social media to complain about Sturgeon's appearance on the panel. One fumed: "You have the worst line up with Nicola Sturgeon. Normally I follow you but can’t watch."

A second agreed: "Nicola Sturgeon! Really!!!! I thought she was under police investigation. Not acceptable." Another weighed in: "Sturgeon on ITV mate - no thanks!"

A fourth raging viewer agreed: "First person to comment on the election coverage… Sturgeon… unbelievable she’s being given a platform."

Others praised ITV's coverage of the event, with one writing: "I'm watching itv coverage .. Tom Bradby is one of the best there is." A second agreed: "ITV best so far."

Meanwhile someone else shared: "I think ITV have the best election programme. #itvnews Looking forward to watching @Peston unpack it all."

Sturgeon, 53, resigned from the Scottish National Party (SNP) in February 2023. Not long after her resignation, she was arrested alongside her husband Peter Murrell, the party’s former chief executive, in connection with a long-running police probe into SNP finances.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is leading the Conservatives, while Sir Keir Starmer, who has been Labour leader since 2020, is hoping to overhaul the Tories following 14 years in power.

Ed Davey is leading the Liberal Democrats, Nigel Farage is running for Reform UK, while Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay are leading the Green Party.

The Conservatives, who won 365 seats last year, are promising to deliver a stronger economy and cut taxes by some 17 billion pounds per year.

Meanwhile Labour are planning to tax private schools to pay for thousands of new teachers in state schools and are also promising to cut record-high public health waiting times.
