A number of This Morning viewers were distracted by host Ben Shephard's spectacle shenanigans, as he kept removing and then donning his glasses throughout the show. The internet was abuzz with viewers venting their exasperation on Twitter - formerly known as X - imploring Ben Shephard to either cease his fidgety actions with his eyewear or perhaps switch to "contact lenses".

One vexed viewer exclaimed: "FFS Ben, either leave the glasses on or permanently take them off #ThisMorning."

Another chimed in with a similar sentiment: "Put the glasses on, Ben Or put them down."

Echoing the thoughts, a third individual remarked: "#Thismorning Ben needs contact lenses. Glasses on/off/on/off must surely be irritating #thismorning."

The week had already seen a dose of disruption earlier when Ben's co-host Cat Deeley had to bow out of the show mid-interview due to illness. Despite kicking off the show while under the weather with a significant cold, it all became overwhelming for her, resulting in an exit after a notable coughing fit, reports the Mirror.

Ironically, this occurred when doctor Zoe Williams and another health specialist were present on the daytime show.

Doctor Zoe was left flustered on set when Ben's co-star suddenly stood up and exited the set mid-show. Concerned, their guests could be heard saying: "I hope she is alright."

The sudden exit of the presenter sent ripples through the studio as Doctor Zoe lost his thread and Ben Shephard found himself solo in the anchoring role. With a touch of humour, he reassured everyone: "You're in good hands Cat, we've got two doctors here," before steering the show back on course.

Post-interview, attention swiftly turned back to the absent Cat. Ben checked in with her, asking "Are you alright? ," prompting her modest response: "'I think so, just about."

Once back from the commercial break, she filled in the audience about her condition: "I've got a bit on a runny eye but i'll be okay."

Fans at home certainly noticed Cat's short disappearance, sparking comments that perhaps she should have opted out of coming to work if under the weather. A displeased viewer posted on social media X: "Forbid Cat might have hayfever fgs #thismorning," while others echoed sympathy and concern: "Hope Cat's ok. I've had coughing fits like that and they're not fun #ThisMorning."

There were also critiques on health precautions, with one commenting: "Why did Cat go in with a cold spreading it around #ThisMorning," and another bluntly suggesting: "Stay at home Cat, ur barking like a dog today #thismorning."
