Sunny is the brand new mystery thriller from Apple TV+ that's set to have a darkly comic tone. The sci-fi series starring Rashida Jones is based on the book Dark Manual by Japan-based award-winning Irish writer Colin O'Sullivan.
The new ten-part Apple Original series launches on the platform on Wednesday, July 10, with the first two episodes. Starring alongside Rashida, who viewers might recognise as Anne Perkins from Parks and Rec or Karen Filippelli in The Office, as well as her more recent role in Silo, is Joanna Sotomura, who has starred in The Good Place, Hidetoshi Nishijima, and singer annie the clumsy.
Sunny follows Rashida, in the role of Suzie Sakamoto, as her life is upended following the disappearance of her husband and son and she's gifted a robot made by her husband’s electronics company.
When does Sunny start on Apple TV+?
Sunny will launch on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 10 with the first two episodes.
The remaining eight episodes of the 10-part series will air weekly on Wednesdays on the platform.
What is Sunny on Apple TV+ about?
A synopsis reads: "Sunny stars Rashida Jones as Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is upended when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As consolation she’s given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots made by her husband’s electronics company.
"Though at first, Suzie resents Sunny’s attempts to fill the void in her life, gradually they develop an unexpected friendship. Together they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie’s family and become dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed."
