LW: Farage responds to being branded a 'racist' in school

Loose Women viewers said the same thing as Nigel Farage appeared on Friday's instalment of the ITV programme.

Ahead of the General Election on July 4, the Reform party leader joined the panel, speaking to Kaye Adams, Kelly Holmes, Gloria Hunniford and Jane Moore.

The politician, 60, immediately addressed the recent footage captured by Channel 4 news, which shows Reform UK campaigners making racist, homophobic, and Islamophobic slurs.

The comments made by the Reform UK members were recorded by an undercover journalist while they campaigned for Farage to become Clacton's MP.

Reform canvasser Andrew Parker and Reform party activist George Jones were amongst those who made the offensive comments, but Farage has claimed another person who made remarks was an actor.

He declared: "This whole thing is a complete and total set up of that I have no doubt whatsoever." After Farage confirmed the people who made the comments had been removed from the party, Jane turned to a moment in his past.

She revealed that one of his school teachers described him as a "racist and a neo-fascist". Farage immediately held his hand up and shook his head, hitting back: "To go back 45 years where a few of us were winding up school teachers is irrelevant."

Jane attempted to say something, before Farage cut her off. "Nobody has done more, Jane, to drive out the far-right in British politics from my party and out of the scene completely than me."

After the fiery clash, viewers took to social media to share their thoughts. One wrote: "Very articulate man nice try Jane. but you lost." A second penned: "#LooseWomen #Jane & #Kaye keep chipping in at the same time with Nigel.... it's annoying!"

Another begged: "Can Jane please shut up… #LooseWomen." Someone else claimed: " The bias on @ITV towards Farage is just ridiculous now, weather he’s on GMB or #LooseWomen just the constant interrupting after 2 seconds, constantly accusing him of stuff, when he defends himself it’s just ignored and they carry on @Ofcom won’t investigate as it’s not GB News."

Meanwhile, others were furious that Farage claimed the racist comments were made by an actor. One fumed: "Farage chats some absolute dross. What's more likely, a coordinated attack on the reform party using a paid actor, or simply the reform party supporter is a racist."

Another posted: "'The establishment are out to get me, it’s a set up, wah wah poor me' -Farage." Another angered viewer asked: "Why is #LooseWomen giving a platform to Nigel Farage to spread this lie of 'rough speaking' and the footage shot by Channel 4 being a set up?"
