All Creatures Great and Small fans will be thrilled to learn Tristan Farnon, portrayed by the talented Callum Woodhouse, is back on set and has reunited with his on-screen pal James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph).

After his stint with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, which saw him depart during the festive special, Tristan will once again grace our screens. The cherished James Herriot saga is gearing up to film its fifth and sixth series amidst the picturesque Yorkshire landscapes.

Joining Nicholas and Callum in the upcoming series is Samuel West, who is reprising his role as the enigmatic Siegfried Farnon. Anna Madeley will be back as Skeldale House's steadfast matriarch, Mrs Hall, alongside Rachel Shenton, who brings Helen Herriot's allure to life. James Anthony-Rose is also set to return as Richard Carmody.

Patricia Hodge will once again dazzle as the elegant Mrs Pumphrey, accompanied by her beloved and overly indulged Pekingese, Tricki.

As the series delves further into the heartwarming tales penned by James Herriot, viewers will be transported back to the 1940s Darrowby, reuniting with the unique Skeldale family and the vibrant mix of farmers, animals, and local residents inhabiting the Yorkshire Dales.

The pictures were shared to an All Creatures Great and Small Facebook fan page along with the caption: "Anyone for cricket? We're in for some fun scenes in series 5 folks!"

The snaps show both actors smiling as they play a game of cricket. Callum's character is dressed in a burgundy jumper paired with a shirt and matching burgundy tie.

While James opted for a similar choice of outfit - a teal jumper with a shirt and matching tie.

Rushing to the comments section, one fan enthused: "Well, what a handsome lot. Wonder if we will see Carmody with a cricket bat...might bring some good laughs."

Another said: "Yay! Cricket! Mrs Hall will have a field day."

A third added: "This makes me so happy, James and Tristan having a moment in the yard when they've both been in the war and are now (hopefully) both back home for good. Thank you so much for sharing."

"We just want bigger seasons," a fourth fan pleaded.

Channel 5 and Paramount+'s Commissioning Editor for Drama, Paul Testar, expressed his delight at the show's continuation: "We're so pleased that All Creatures Great and Small will be returning to Channel 5 for two more series."

He added, "The show has captured the hearts of our audiences and we are committed to bringing even more of James Herriot's unforgettable stories to our viewers. We can't wait to share this next chapter."

Sir Colin Callender CBE, Executive Producer and CEO of Playground, expressed his sentiments: "Kindness and decency are increasingly rare qualities these days, so it is a blessing to be able to return to the sanctuary of Skeldale House and James Herriot's beloved characters who represent all that is the best in us."

"There are no villains in All Creatures - just everyday folk trying to get through the day with dignity with the help of a supportive community, family and friends. It's a lesson for modern times."

All Creatures Great and Small will return to Channel 5 at Christmas.
