Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson present This Morning together

Alison Hammond was visibly shocked when she introduced a unique guest on Friday's edition of This Morning.

Co-hosting with Dermot O'Leary, they welcomed Erik Sprague, better known as The Lizard Man, via video link from his Texas abode. Erik has famously transformed himself to resemble a lizard through multiple surgeries.

The ITV audience were greeted with the sight of Erik, his body adorned with green tattoos, pointed teeth, scale-like ink patterns, and a bifurcated tongue.

Alison, astounded by his extreme body alterations, exclaimed: "Oh my gosh, I'll be honest with you, it has actually taken my breath away just even looking at you. You look incredible!"

Erik, who enjoys the shock he causes, was asked by Alison if people often react with surprise in public. He responded: "I do get it quite a bit! I very often cause people to pause and do double takes, I'm not proud of it but I have caused a couple of traffic accidents over the years," reports the Mirror.

He assured that to his knowledge, no one had been seriously injured, before delving into the origins of his transformation journey, which began with an interest in performance and conceptual art in college. They also discussed the procedure he designed to split his tongue, which a doctor performed on him as an experimental subject.

In response to questions about his procedure, he shared: "This was back in 1997, at the time he only charged me the cost of his use in the surgical theatre which was about $600 at the time."

Regarding the ordeal of pain and recovery, Erik informed the presenters that the procedure itself wasn't unbearable as he was medicated.

He further commented: "I could taste and smell my own burning tongue as the laser went through it, the swelling was so severe that it took about a week for the swelling to go down to the point where I could speak or eat normally.

As the conversation shifted to the fact that the 'Lizard Man' is married, Alison posed an unexpected question, asking: "You're married to your lovely wife, what does she think about that tongue?"

In response, with a laugh, he said: I often say my wife has plenty of complaints but my tongue is not one of them. As the others chuckled over the remark, Alison admitted she hadn't caught what Erik had said as Dermot seemed taken aback by her candidness.

Whilst some snickers were heard from the camera crew and audience, Erik made a show of sticking out his bifurcated tongue.
