Lorraine praises Prince Harry for his recent charity work

Lorraine Kelly and royal correspondent Russell Myers said that the 'old' version of Prince Harry is "missed" as she commented on how "he really can relate" to what the young children are going through as he spoke in his role as a global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Speaking about the charity, Lorraine said: "The thing about Prince Harry is he really can relate to those kids." Russell agreed: "Of course he can, yeah.

"You look at him with the children and I've seen some of the footage of him spending the day with them and he's exactly what the old Harry was. I think that this is fantastic work that he's obviously doing.

"He has a real story to tell and a story to share with these kids and they love spending time with him." Lorraine added: "No, he's good. He's good with kids, isn't he? He really is."

However, fans on X (formerly Twitter) were fuming over the Scottish TV presenter's comments. One user complained: "'Regardless of your opinions of Prince Harry' 'We miss the 'old' Harry'. LOL these Rats really hate that as a husband and a father, Harry prioritised his family over the Palace and the Press."

Another protested that Harry hasn't changed, just matured. They said: "Prince Harry is still the same, but now married with two children! When you get married and have children, you no longer think the way you used to. You have responsibility! But the clowns want Harry to still be single."

Someone else added: "They miss old Harry who had to pretend to be [happy emoji] from a young age & couldn’t speak up about the abuse his pathetic pa sanctioned. They miss the old H set up to be William’s whipping boy & slave. Thank u Meg for supporting him to reach his full potential & release himself from the shackles of abuse."

Another penned: "She didn't know the 'real' Harry. None of us could say that. He's got out of a gilded cage but I hope he manages to survive in the outside 'real' world. The RF's establishment are ruthless to those who don't toe the line."

A fifth wrote: "He's still the same. They just no longer have access to him, and he's made sure they have no access to his family. They should have paid attention to his words. He was always ready to cut contact/access."

It comes as the Duke of Sussex starred in a new video talking about grief, urging children and young people to talk about their emotions. Speaking out to young children, who have lost their parents in the military, Prince Harry shared his own insight after losing his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, aged just 12.

He said: " It’s so easy as a kid to think or convince yourself….you convince yourself that the person you’ve lost wants you, or you need to be sad for as long as possible to prove to them that they are missed. But then there’s this realisation of, no, they must want me to be happy.

"That’s the hardest thing, especially for kids, I think, which is, 'I don’t want to talk about it because it will make me sad, but once realising that if I do talk about it, I’m celebrating their life, then actually, things become easier'…as opposed to this 'I’m just not going to talk about it, and that’s the best form of coping', when in fact it’s not. It can be for a period of time…you can’t suppress it for ever. It’s not sustainable. And will eat away at you inside.

"No-one wants to in the position where they are forced to talk about the very thing they don’t want to talk about, especially when every defence mechanism in your mind, nervous system and everything else is saying 'do not go there'."
