This Morning viewers were quick to offer their support to host Cat Deeley as she shared her husband's struggle with shingles.

While presenting alongside Ben Shephard, the conversation veered towards the topic of shingles and its impact on the over-50s. Cat revealed that initially, Patrick was clueless about his condition, attributing the symptoms to their home renovations.

Cat detailed: "He thought he'd touched his face. He'd got this burning, tingling, stinging sensation, so that's what he thought it was."

Doctor Sara Kayat then highlighted the key signs to watch for: "Firstly you tend to get this tingly, burning sensation. You may also notice you're feeling more fatigued you've got a headache, you're tired. You might even have a bit of a temperature.

"A few days later you can start to develop a blotchy rash and then that develops into fluid-filled blisters, which start to cross over and scab away," reports the Mirror.

Cat added: "They can be on the trunk of your body? [Patrick] has got them on his face, actually!"

Sara affirmed that shingles can appear "anywhere" on the body, including sensitive areas like the genitals and eyes. Concerned fans took to social media to express their empathy, sharing personal stories and sending well-wishes to Cat and Patrick.

One viewer posted on X: "I got shingles about 3 months ago, lasted for about 6 weeks, it was bloody horrible! " with a second agreeing: "Shingles is quite possibly the worst pain ever. I had it as a 13 year old on my crotch. Pus filled blisters lasting weeks. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy."

Another lamented: "I feel for Cat's husband, shingles is awful!"

Meanwhile, This Morning experienced a minor hiccup when Dr Sara had an earpiece malfunction during the segment.

Alerting her, Ben quickly pointed out: "Sara, your earpiece has popped out and it's looking like some sort of alien. You need that so they can tell you where we are!"

With noticeable gratitude, Sara thanked him for being a quick thinker, to which Ben responded reassuringly: "We're all on time at the minute, don't worry!"
