Sam Hall has been axed from the ITV soap after 15 years.
The Emmerdale star, who played Samson Dingle on the programme since age five, is reportedly leaving the soap.
The 20 year old actor is believed to have been told by producers that his character was being killed off.
According to The Sun, fellow cast members have rallied around him including his on-screen dad James Hooton, 50, have offered their support.
Sam is believed to have had a meeting with show bosses earlier this month who broke the news leaving him "devastated".
A source told the publication: "He’s grown up with his on-screen Dingle clan and they are all very protective of him.
“Some of the cast even went to talk to bosses about their decision.”
As news of his "axing" went around the ITV studios there was said to be a lot of "angry Dingles".
The source added: “The fact that they are planning on killing him off means there’ll be no way back for him either. He’s absolutely gutted.”
ITV declined to comment when contacted by Express.co.uk.
Sam has been at the centre of several dramatic storylines during his time on the ITV soap involving teen parenthood following a fling.
This saw Samson struggle with his responsibilities as a young father, eventually shunning Amelia Spencer and baby Esther.
Previously speaking about his role, he said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute. I love being a Dingle.”
He first joined the Dales in 2009.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
