Stacey Solomon's stormy exchange with Joe Swash as she issues scathing eight-word response

Stacey Solomon was busily dismantling the garage so that she and husband Joe could have "one door each" - but the EastEnders star wasn't impressed, and didn't hesitate to let her know. In a scene from this evening's Stacey Solomon's Renovation Rescue on Channel 4, which saw a window and a door come right off, Joe lamented: "What have you done to my garage?"

"The proportions of this garage is the proportions of how our relationship works," he exclaimed. Stacey dissolved into fits of giggles as he added: "You're getting 85 [per cent] and I'm getting 15 [per cent]!"

Without skipping a beat, his wife gently told him: "Well, we might as well continue as we started." In a separate scene, Stacey confided to the camera: "It's better if we keep the DIY to one person, that person being me," before she issued a scathing eight-word reply, stating, "because I'm much better at it than Joe!"

He might not have agreed as he subsequently pleaded to join in with the handiwork, quizzing: "Do me a favour, we'll do one brick each, yeah?" Elsewhere on the show, Stacey was seen visiting a couple in Devon who'd been hit by an eye-watering scam involving £300,000 of their hard-earned cash.

They blinked back tears during their emotional chat with the TV star - and that's before they even got to recalling their mishaps with builders. Disaster had struck three years earlier when the show guest was made redundant and his wife had almost died in a Covid scare.

"I had oxygen canisters at home - [the virus] knocked me for six," she winced, as her tearful husband admitted he found it hard to talk about, and at one point had even been ready to say his final goodbye.

Then they parted with £300,000 of cash to renovate their dream home in Devon, only for the work to end up being condemned by the building inspector, sending the frustrated couple straight back to square one.

With only £30,000 left - an eleventh of their original budget - they appealed to Stacey to help them stretch their cash as far as it could possibly go to fix the disastrous building project.

The aghast Loose Women panellist looked on in horror, as they admitted: "It doesn't look like we spent that much from the outside."

"I say it in the nicest way possible - it shouldn't look like this on that budget!" the wide-eyed star shot back.

"At one point we were only left with one wall in the house. We lost the passion completely and it became a chore," the couple confessed.

"They've not just taken your money, they've taken time away from your family," Stacey sympathised of the rogue builders, by enveloping them in a bear hug and promising: "We are gonna do whatever we can to make this work!"

Sure enough, as she helped them muck in with tough tasks to prevent them spending further cash, the beautiful house by the beach was slowly transformed, with Stacey's excited verdict at the end being: "I wanna move in!"
