The BBC has been slammed by some viewers after announcing a brand new show with Alison Hammond at the helm as presenter. The broadcaster announced on Monday that Alison, 49, would be fronting an upcoming series which will see her spending 48 hours with a celebrity.

Alison Hammond's Big Weekend has been confirmed to air in 2025, as viewers will be able to watch it on both BBC One and iPlayer. After the big announcement, the BBC caught some flack from fans for "recycling" the same presenters instead of nurturing new talent.

One frustrated person said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Casting teams really need to know when someone is overexposed & to give the public a break from them. Alison is on everything & people are seriously fed up of her." (sic)

Another social media user penned: "You'd think there were no other presenters in the UK with the same group getting recycled from show to show, surely there's new talent out there?" Somebody else expressed: "Alison Hammond overload. Are there no other hosts for TV shows??"

Yet another exclaimed: "So sad that the same presenters get every job going. Do they actually interview for these jobs?" A fifth asked: "How on earth does she have time for all these shows she's now doing?" While a sixth added: "Read the room BBC. Don't you have anyone else who could have hosted this. We all need a break from that woman!" While someone else simply fumed: "Defund the BBC."

However, not everyone had the same reaction as one Alison fan said: "This will be amazing!!" Alison has a long list of shows on her repertoire currently, starting with her Friday slot on This Morning with Dermot O'Leary.

She hosts The Great British Bake Off with Noel Fielding on Channel 4 and is a captain on Rob Beckett's Smart TV on Sky. As well as this, she's also taken over from the late Paul O'Grady for Alison Hammond: For The Love of Dogs.

The official synopsis for Alison's new show reads: "In this six-part series coming next year, each episode will see Alison spend 48 hours with a celebrity where she will really get to know them.

"The show will be serving up big laughs, big revelations and a whole load of celebrity realness.

"Set to be filmed across the UK, Alison will be asking all the big questions in her unique and hilarious way which has made the This Morning and Great British Bake Off star one of the country’s most loved personalities."

The ITV star commented: "I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities.

"When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!"

Alison Hammond's Big Weekend will air in 2025 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
